Just got my 5000 miles service on last Saturday.
    1. Very disappointed with no oil change. Basically, waste 2 hours of my weekend. I would not come in if they told the true. They sent me a reminder that said change oil, and others.

    2. Suprisingly, they had my tires at 38-39psi when I purchased the car. Never check my tires until before the service. I thought they had my tires at 32-35psi. Wonder why my C was so rough. Anyway, they pumped the tires to 41-42psi after the service.

    3. While waiting for my car, there was an accident at the dealer. A women was turnning left to the dealer without yield. The SUV from opposite direction tried to dodge her. He end up flying off the curve. Took down the Toyota dealer sign. Perfect place to get an accident. Now he can come in and pick up a new toyota. LOL.

What does your maintenance book specify for 5000 mile? I bet no oil change. So?

Every 5k miles the dealer wants to see you so they can up-sell you extra services. I had a service manager try to sell me a new interior air filter 18 HOURS after I had changed it myself.

Wow, OP, I sure wouldn't want to be in any service industry and have to provide any services to you. You sound like a real difficult customer to satisfy, let alone please. :(

I think I put approx. thirty miles on mine before I checked the air pressure.

can't wait till mine tries to sell me a new air filter while I have a k&n lifetime filter installed :ROFLMAO:

but seriously no oil change? what the hell are they doing to the car then?

still, for resale value I'll go through with the song and dance. no choice really - if you have all the factory check ups it just looks great for the books.

I wouldn't sit still for that.
Mine has a sticker that looks like Toyota factory that says "First oil change at 5,000 or 6 months".
Looks like they are screwing with you and you need to twist some tail and/or find a different dealer.

Seems like there is a limit on how many times they will change it for free during the 2 year/24000 Toyoguard....two times I think.
So if you insist they would probably change it at 5000 intervals-but only twice for free(obviously I am not sure about any of this):)

First change, with tire rotation and general inspection at 5K.
Second change at 15K with tire rotation (yes I know that exceeds the recommendation for rotation)
Third change at 25K.......on your dime.
    I don't see a problem.

I'm the guy that while waiting at the dealer during my 2nd free oil change for my 2012 Scion xB, my wife & I took a test drive of the Prius c. well we fell in love with the c and traded in the xB on the spot. we drove home in our new 2014 Prius c that evening !!! and by the way, our Moonglow color is a GRAY not white ,,, think of it as an ash gray (with green speckles). and maybe at the 5,000 mile oil charge we might test drive the v, hahaha

No, I'm not. If they tell me the true. I would buy my own oil and change it myself at 2K miles. I'm alway changed my oil in the past. I was waiting for free 5K service. End up with a big disappointment. To you maybe doesn't mean anything. But to me, it was waste of effort and time. At the end to find out that they did bassically nothing for my car at 5k.

Also, now I still have to do the oil change. No way that I will first 10K without oil change.

i asked them to do my first one at 5000, they refused, so i said i wouldn't be back and will buy next car somewhere else. so i get the wait, wait, wait, let me talk to the manager. he comes back and okay, we can do it, but if you do the next one at 15, you won't get one at 20. duh.

I was under the impression from the dealer they change the oil 5 time every 5k miles. I'm sitting at 2k right now... I'm go check my paper work damn it.

The factory recommended oil change interval for the Prius C is 10k miles.

And I had to have a serious "discussion" with my SA about this too.
Apparently they wanted me to bring it in at 5K just for tire rotation and oil change.
    NOPE, that ain't gonna happen.
I suspect that my second "free" change will come 12 months later, since I doubt the little town scooter will get 10K usage in 12 months.
Wonder if they will argue about that too ??

I don't know why there should be any confusion about what the maintenance schedule is. Here's the factory "Warranty and Maintenance Guide" for the 2013 Prius c, for example:
Toyota 2013 Prius C Warranty and Maintenance Guide
Page 36 explains what it all means, and is followed by detailed breakdowns of the maintenance for each 5000 mile/six month interval.

You can get all the manuals for any Toyota model by starting here:
Toyota Online Owners Manuals and Warranty

There is NO confusion about what the recommended schedule IS.

The discussion is about those of us who want our first oil and filter done before 10,000 miles.......which seems to be a lot of us, and for good reason, I think.

Is there not still an "exception" for severe service ??
Are you giving odds that the dealers will not start recommending changes at the 5K "severe" interval AFTER the owner starts paying for the changes ?? I certainly wouldn't bet against it.

^^No confusion? Take a look at posts 1, 7, and 15, for example.

If you read the manual, it does state exceptions for severe service.

And if you're not familiar with the required services as specified in the manual, how are you going to know if the dealer is upselling you with expensive "recommendations"?
