The P261C DTC Detection Item is listed as:

"Short in Coolant Pump "B" control circuit" and then the following Trouble Areas:
    • Short in water pump assembly circuit
    • Water pump assembly
    • ECM
The Prius has two different water coolant pumps, one for the engine coolant and the other is for the Inverter coolant.

Toyota has a TSB out concerning the Inverter coolant pump. I would check with your dealer and see if this applies to your car.

What does Toyota in Iraq do for warranty repair items?

    Good luck

There are a couple of previous threads on this:

    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...troubleshooting/82008-water-pump-problem.html

Page 3 of the second thread has a link to the TSB on the electric engine coolant pump. I think jdcollins5 is thinking of the inverter coolant pump problem on 2004-2007 Prius cars.

    http://priuschat.com/forums/attachm...1b-p261c-coolant-pump-control-malfunction.pdf

I'm guessing the engine no-start problem is that the Engine ECU didn't allow the engine to start with the coolant pump not working. P0A0F is reported by the HV ECU, which is really the car's master computer, but it delegates running the engine to the Engine ECU.

    ali3d2004,

Any luck with getting your car fixed?

Find attached the TSB for the 2010 engine coolant pump problem that Mike Dimmick refers to below. The DTC P261C is listed in the TSB.

    Good luck,

    Dwight

Interesting to see that when they introduce something new it tends to take some time to iron out the wrinkles so to speak.
