"we've torn apart every electric motor that's worth anything, and nobody has anything to compare to tesla"

"i'd say they are five years ahead of everyone else"

"there's magic in here, and we can't figure it out"

"we've been proposing the pull out ramp to the legacy truck makers since the 90's. what they say is, nobody cares, we don't care. i think truck owners are gonna be excited."

that was long, but well worth the time. he is more brilliant than i had realized.

yes ... he quoted from The Art of War, saying in essence don't dismiss your business enemies. He related vaguely to experiences where executives in the traditional Auto industry he consulted with - ignored Japanese small Car Imports ..... & that traditional Executive Board member OEM's would say, "that'll never fly". Arguing against 'traditional' thinking was pointless.
Maybe now the shoe is on the other foot, because as Tesla takes off, certain manufacturers would rather be dismissive.

Great interview. Watched to the very end, with that 50 cal. bullet on their table. There's a hint of battery future in there too; one just needs to listen between the lines.

Famous in Star Trek IV The Voyage Home, a sapphire, Al{2}O{3}, transparent aluminum is stronger than glass and the 3d hardest substance. This is what Munro reports as the windows of the Cybertruck.

If the vehicle proves to have fewer/less expensive repairs insurance should be less. However, I would expect those insurance cost to not get those discounts until the vehicles have a proven track record in that respect.

I suspect that in collisions, kinetic energy will continue to do what kinetic energy does, but then the panels of sheet metal that can't be shaped at the factory without breaking stamping mills will simply be left in whatever shape resulted from the collision, and will add to the character and romance of the truck.

Insurance pricing/risk algorithms also take into account how badly your assault vehicle us going to thoroughly smash up the other guy.
