    Hi folks,

I'm wondering - does anyone know how the Prius estimates the MPG that appears in real-time on the display?

I can't imagine that it would literally divide the distance driven by the fuel flowing to the ICE during the ~ 1 second update time - seems like you'd get a large error dividing two small numbers.

    Thanks!

I'm sure that's what it does - there is no other information available.

That probably gives a lower limit on the update period or the quantization in distance or volume would be too great.

The five minute bars use information obtained over a longer period so the quantization error will be smaller.
