I am interested in what people are adding/changing in their brand new 2016 Prius - beyond the factory available options. The car is exceptional upon delivery, but some of us want to "personalize" it to suit us.
    I'll start...
    1. 35% window tint on 10 of the 12 windows - not on windshield or moonroof
    2. Raised the rear storage area 2 1/2 inches to allow for additional storage and totally flat floor when rear seats are folded.
    3. Hard-wired my Garmin Dash Cam from the front dome light to eliminate having to plug it into the 12 volt plug.
    4. Ordered four center caps to complete the no-hubcap look. on my 15" wheels

Just noticed: there's real prices now, in the 2016 Prius Shop section. Those cool looking 15" rims are now $899.

Is the 35% tint on the 2 front windows light enough so that it won't be notice by the cops in California? When I was living there, I got 50% tint on the front windows and 25% (25% light going through) in the rear, I didn't get hassle by the cops.

I really prefer the same tint on all of the side windows. The mix of light and dark, just seems wrong. Any after-market tinting is illegal in California, but I have never had an issue with any of the cars I owned (knock on wood).

I've had a warning before. On my new car, I went something like 15 in the back and lighter in the front. The idea of going darker in the back was to make the front appear lighter.

Same here. In PA the tint law is <70% which is basically nothing but I think it's a secondary offense and the cops just don't care. I'm used to having 35% all around but thinking about getting 20% this time. But I won't mix!

I do wish people would hold off modifying the Gen 4 until I have actually SEEN one here in Ohio. I feel like I'm missing the party.

I am planning on making the following modifications:

    1. Replacing tire repair kit with actual donut if possible?
    2. Replacing Head unit with Pioneer Android auto/Apple car play if possible
    3. Weathertech floor mats (when available)
    4. Proclip phone mount (when available)

1 and 2 are 100% possible, although you might loose some storage in 1. and in 2. you will probably have to wait for some time for adapters to appears.

I have a small but growing interest in wrapping the roof of my new 2016 Prius Four in carbon fiber. Thoughts?

Yup, cool idea - especially on your colors. All black or near black from the belt line up. I like it

    For reference...

Here is my old Persona (since traded for a Ram p/u) with the roof wrapped in high gloss 3m vinyl. I though about carbon fiber but was very happy with the high gloss and lots of people swore I had a sunroof!! Lol.

One more mod. I added a scanGauge to the suite of instrumentation. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1453576960.770256.jpg

If you constantly find yourself looking over you steering wheel to check your scan gauge then you can try something like this

    Works well for me:D

I was able to install directly on the plastic behind the wheel with stick-on Velcro strips. Clean and easy.

I did that install originally but dos not work out for me because I constantly had to look up and over to see the gauge. So I mounted it up higher.
