The specs suggest a 16 or 20 kWh battery, and 5 miles per kWh which is pretty good.

Ken, I'm not sure I'm reading this correctly, could you translate the charge time for the 50 kW charger please?

I wish EPA stops the current falsely reported X mpg in every car too. EPA needs to put in the "TRUE" mpg as to the cost of drilling/transporting/refining/etc of oil all the way to the electricity it cost to pump gas into your tank.

But it is not going to happen, so "zero mission" is fair game.

Centralized power, in general, also has disadvantages. For example, the grid is already maxed out in many urban areas, and transmission losses are increasingly an issue as demand rises and excess capacity disappears.

Bottom line, IMHO, is that only public transit and better urban planning will get us out of this predicament. The idea of us all running around in autonomous transpo modules may, in itself, be at the root of the problem.

I agree, but my power comes from Wind. We have an abundance of Wind in Utah and Wyoming (trust me on this!), and with a population density like ours, wind farms make all the sense in the world!

Ahhh, that's nice...and I'm suddenly more than a bit envious.

The closest I've gotten to sustainable power is a little guest cottage (shed would be more like it) with a small solar array that powers the interior lighting and whatnot. My fantasy is to live off the grid, in a more simple manner than I do now...but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Here in CA, there is limited wind power, but also growing concerns that the blades and migratory birds aren't getting along as well as hoped. Perhaps fewer of those issues in your area.

Actually, the large reservoirs that supply the stored energy for most hydroelectric plants do have GHG emissions. There's no free lunch there.

By "autonomous transpo modules" I assume you refer to that most marvelous of devices, the automobile? Possibly the singular most
liberating invention in human history. Specifically because we are not reduced to a state of dependency upon public transportation.
