I just got my wife's 2012 Prius v Three back from the body shop after it was rear-ended. Does anybody know if this hole needs a rubber piece next to the battery (passenger rear bumper side)? See the red circle. Sorry about the shakiness on the second pic from the bottom looking up. Battery-View.jpg Bottom-Up.jpg

    Thanks!

It ensures the cabin is sealed, but now if there are leaks along the rain gutters along the hatch seal, at least no water will collect;).

But we haven’t seen similar issues like that of the Gen2 ilk:).

But I know with @Friendlyx ’s rebuilt Prius, he had issues with moisture so it might be prudent to leave the plug out(y).

Ours has been in a rear end accident as well, so not sure, but there are holes in the vicinity looking from underneath that are not plugged....

I would check online dealership parts info, there could be a plug for the top side. I think that would be preferable: that area is prone to collect water, and you wouldn't want water getting through that top hole, then being trapped inside.

Maybe this is the battery vent tube:

Or maybe just measure the hole diameter, say with drill bits or an inside caliper (if you can get down there), then shop for generic rubber grommets for that hole size. Something like this:

And this is not the vent tube hole:
