Mirror glass mounting

    I've just received my wide-angle driver's side wing mirror. Could anyone help me with instructions on how to remove the stock glass and install the new glass (in a way that the stock glass can be replaced later). Thanks!

    I cannot speak for the Prius. However, on the Phaeton, it was simply a matter of adjusting the glass to the innermost position and then using a trim removal tool along the edge furthest from the car to gently prise the mirror glass from the mount. Having said that, I will wait for confirmation before I go at it. :)

    I received confirmation from Shaun at Pentagon Sheffield, that the way I described above is correct. However, he mentioned his mechanics seem to feel it's easier to remove the glass whist in the center-most position.

    They will be pressure-fit into their assemblies. Gentle but firm persuasion is what will be required in order to remove them in one piece. Keep in mind that once prised loose from their mounts, there will still be wires attached to the back of the glass itself for heating purposes, so don't yank once the glass comes loose!

    Ironic how this thread appeared a few days after I had to purchase the replacement passenger side glass on my 2004 Prius. The instructions above are correct. It's a little tricky remounting the mirror back on to inner piece that holds it in place. And as mentioned before, if you have heated glass ( I am not sure if they all have that option), make sure you securely insert the wires tightly.
