As a nurse for many years I can attest to the will of the mind over the events in the body. We have not begun to understand everything that goes on in the body. Mental illness is still a mystery, the drugs used to treat it are experimental at times. Many were actually developed to treat seizures.

If an individual could tap into their own endorphins and such I believe that is is quite possible for them to beat cancer, mental illness or many other injuries/illnesses. Because religion often involves such a high level of "belief" it may be easier for a highly religious individual to shut out the negative input that would decrease the body's ability to heal itself.

But most do not have that ability.
Do we create our own reality?

This is one of the reasons that I cannot accept catholicism. To think that man can "ordain" (can't think of a better word) miracles.

I guess it helps me understand why others cannot understand my faith.

    To each his own.

In the beginning, everything good that could not be explained by man was considered a "miracle" or "the will of god". The bad things were the "works of the devil" or "the wrath of god".

As time continued on and science progressed, things were proven, explained, and understood. Miracles, at least notable ones, became less frequent.

Is this latest all we have left on the miracles news?....

The use of religion to explain this is an easy out.

I do not know, some of the stuff out there is highly credible and eerie. I would imagine the Vatican just doesn't hand out "miracle" status easily, as such in this case. Basically, wherever you have two main ingredients: religious people and seemingly incurable ailments, it really does make one wonder...

What I find interesting, is how quick people are to exclude the possibility a divine miracle has in fact occurred...
