Well, I did it. At 105,000 I found myself unable to swerve out of the way of rubber from a truck tire. So, I tried to straddle it. That of course did not work so I banged the lowest painted protrusion of the front bumper, broke the black grill between the fog lights and damaged the plastic cover on the bottom front. Anyone know a good Prius body shop guy in the Phoenix metro area?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Jim Biggs @ Jul 9 2007, 11:46 AM) </div> Same exact thing happened to me 2 weeks from new. State Farm paid for it under comprehensive (road hazard), though my deductable was $250. Total $1300 for new bumper, lower grill and fog light. The tire also slapped the passenger door which dented and required repaint. I don't know any body in Phoenix, but just wanted to share the grief. Any body shop can fix it, there is nothing unique about that kind of damage, unfortunately. I've hit lots of tire treads in other cars, and they always polished out. With the Prius it seems to leave its mark, big time.
