Michelin tires on sale in Canada; $70 off a set of 4, additional $30 off a set of WINTER tires

    Not sure if this is the best place to post it, but figure a lot of Gen 5 owners will be looking for winter footwear.

    In an online chat I was told, per the subject line, consumer tires will be $70 off a set of 4, an additional $30 off for winter tires.

    I think Costco and Cdn Tire have their own different promos and they're not 'stackable'. So find what works best for you.

    Costco used to have ads for $150 off per set with Michelin. Seems like nowadays the most they'll do is $100 there . He had tires are more expensive nowadays
    We just picked up a set of cross climate2's there for $100 off.

    In Canada Costco does $150 CDN still. I took advantage of this last summer; got snow tires on loose rims.

    Again a PSA: if you get directional tires (Michelin X-Ice for example), make sure they’re mounted so you have two rights and two lefts. Costco’s managed to eff this up twice, for me.

    I'm not overly impressed with Costco pricing lately. Can usually do better elsewhere, even with their rebate.

    The other thing that annoys me is there policy on tire rotation vs 'seasonal swaps'.

    On previous cars, both sets of tires (the all seasons and the winters), each mounted on rims, were purchased from Costco.

    They told me that they would happily rotate them, be they winter or all season, at no charge.
    Any # of times during the year.


    But to put the other set of tires on-WHICH HAD ALSO BEEN PURCHASED AT COSTCO- well, that was a seasonal swap and they'd have to charge for that.

    Had one set or the other NOT been purchased at Costco, I would have agreed.

    But they'd sold me both. So they were rotating them. With an interim step to remove them from/put them into plastic bags.

    Yeah I just bring in loose rims, effectively that means no road hazard or tread life warranty. And tire swaps I do myself.

    If I cost compare vs Kal Tire for example, I was saving about $100 IIRC, with their promotion. But I was hitchhiking on someone else's account, there's that, and the Costco atmosphere, and their unwavering ability to screw up directionals, makes me wonder if it's worth it...

    Four years ago I bought three Michelins at Costco and got one free which included free installation and rotations. A year or two ago I noticed their similar deals excluded installation. Now they have reduced discounts but went back to free installations. Rotations and balances remained free throughout.

    Other outlets have been known to discount when they had old tires to move. Choose your poison.
