About to replace the original tire on my 2013. Looking at the Michelin Premier A/S tires. Has anyone tried them and how do you like them? I have been running about 45lbs in the originals and at 49k miles now but winter is almost here and I plan on driving this car through the winter more this year than in the past.

I've had the Michelin Premier A/S for a year on a VW Passat in the same size as my Prius and like them a lot (35 to 39 psi). See my previous post:

    I have the Michelin Premier A/S 215x45x17
For about 1000 miles now. Like them a lot.
Expect a 3-4mpg drop. Hoping MPG goes back up after more miles on the tires.

I put them on two Prii last winter after 10K on each still lower mileage, but handling is far superior. I run 42 front, 40 rear.

My MPG is still low. I'm crossing my fingers it has to do with the colder weather and the heavy traffic I have to sit in. I might increase my psi a few. Right now I am running 39 front and 38 rear.

I have Energy Savers and my experience is the exact opposite. My mileage improved almost immediately. It has been just over 5,000 miles and I am very happy with them. I am running 35 psi. So you may want to check into these tires. I don,t know if they come in your size. Mine are 15". Sorry just saw that you have 17" wheels.

Yeah, very unfortunately the Energy Savers not available in 215/45R17. Our Canadian Touring model (no way to show in Priuschat avatar) also has the 17". Like 'em, but not ES for us. Will likely go with EP422.

sorry missed that part! I've looked into Michelins (Primer, defender) and Conti TrueContact and TC was a clear winner. Cheaper, better handling better mpg

We currently have Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 in 215/45R17, the OEM's. They seem to roll quite easy. They are not even categorized as LRR. Maybe because they're getting on their rolling resistance is good??

My 2011 Prius tires needed replacing at 40K miles and when I took it to Americas Tires they recommended Michelins as replacements but I immediately noticed a 4 mpg drop.

Does anyone have more info on the Michelin Premier A/S tires. I'm already running them for about 150 miles. I haven't really had a normal drive yet but should have one next weekend (375 miles highway). I was running Bridgestone Ecopia EP20 195/65R15 89S. Do I just suck it up and take a mileage hit on these highly rated tires or return them before the 30 days. I'm pretty much locked into Costco and no the Energy Savers are not Available.

    Next to try:

    Bridgestone - Ecopia EP422 PLUS 195/65R15 91H
    Bridgestone - Ecopia EP20 195/65R15 89S

    I've been on Michelin Premier A/S 215x45x17.

It took awhile for me to get my MPG back up.

Not until about 5k-10k, the highest I got on a tank was about 53 mpg.

If I drive conservatively I can consistently get 50 MPG.

    If you're running 15s I'm sure you'll do better.

I think they are great tires especially on wet surface. They give me a sense of security compared to my Toyo Proxes .

My five (17") had the Bridgestone Turanza as original equipment ..... They lasted 90k .. and still had tread above the marks!

Anyway -- I went with the Michelin A/S because of the ratings and the LRR ... The Bridgestone are not LRR. The miles dropped with the A/S and never matched the Turanza's. Can't say I notice any improvement/ difference with the Michelin tires ... I believe they were cheaper at the time.

My normal complaint with Michelin: I don't like them in the rain -- so I normally buy Bridgestone tires .. we get a lot of rain the the mid-atlantic states where I live.
