Well im trying to figure out how the warning system for the Toyota Prius works, im generalizing all prius's including 01-07, the multi information display has three warnings on the 2001 - 2003 prius's, PS ( power steering ), MAIN +- ( high voltage battery ), and car with exclamation point ( which are 8424894828 reasons for that to come on ).

well my main question is this, for each of those icons illuminating in red does that correspond to the ECU that is triggering the DTC?
For example if the main battery warning comes on, does that indicate HV or battery ECU triggers a DTC?

and If PS light comes that says that the PS ECU ( if that exists not sure ) is giving a DTC?

so lets say you have the car with exclamation point, would that indicate theres no issues with the battery ( because no MAIN +- warning ) ?

I can state one thing for a fact. When the DTC's 3000 (HV Battery problem) and 3006 triggered (SOC mismatch between HV modules) the battery warning did NOT come on. The Triangle of Death on the dash and the car with the exclamation point in the MFD for my 2001 is what came on. After starting and stopping the car, the MFD returned to normal except the right upper corner had a small version, in red, of the car and "!" right where the outside temperature is located.
