    Hello,
New-ish Prius Plug-in owner. I’ve been reading a ton here since I got my 2015 Prius Plug-in Hybrid. First, I absolutely love the car and thanks to everyone here for so many informative posts.

I can’t seem to find exactly what I’m looking for, so thought I’d ask. It says : “in software update mode. Please insert a valid software update stick.” The old guy I got it from said it’s done that for awhile. I’ve tried downloading firmware from Toyota, but they just say there’s no updates available. I’ve seen download links of Entune firmware here, but they’re all dead. If anyone can help, it’d be appreciated.

Sounds like a bad or corrupted load from a previous update try. Or they didn't let it finish. There's a verify loop that probably never finished. I think they also have versions that were good for just one of the trims.

Here's what I got on the Toyota website. You may have plug your VIN in.

Yeah, that’s the same site I got as well. Just told me no updates available when I plug my VIN. Drat. They used to have older versions available. Ah well, off to the dealer I go. Thank you for the reply!

Sounds like the download needs to be reloaded. If you cannot get the current version via the download link then the dealer will be your best bet.

Yup, did that a few times. No go. What I really wanted to get was a link to the original firmware, and I did I put my VIN on Toyota’s site, same one linked above. No downloads were available. Darn. Well off to the Toyota dealership. Ty to all who replied.
