Hi All, My friend has a 05 and I have the 09. Every time he fills up his tank, his average mpg resets to zero automatically. My average miles only change if I hit the reset button and the cruising miles automatically reset. Did different years have slightly different features? Is there a setting to change this? Does anyone else's average mpg reset upon fill up?
If this prius didn't come with a set of Owner's Manuals, you can download them from here : Toyota Warranty & Toyota Manuals | Toyota Owners
So I'm not crazy after all! The MPG on our 2007 does not reset when we put gas in the tank, but in a recent thread on this subject, everyone who spoke up said theirs does reset. In fact, the reference I could find in the manual seemed to say that it would reset. I thought our car was unique!
Before posting, I looked for a thread and could not find it. Can you post a link to it please? I think there is a hidden preference setting somewhere.
I don't know why people can't just answer the question asked. 6 posts and no answer, even the linked thread doesn't answer the question. 04-05 Prius automatically resets both the milage and the MPG when you fill the tank. This effectively measures the MPG for the tank. 06-09 Prius only automatically resets the mileage when you fill the tank. If you want to measure tank MPG (as the 04-05 did), you need to press the "Reset" button after you've filled the tank. If you don't it measures average MPG since the "Reset" button was pressed. On both, pressing the "Reset" button resets both the milage and the MPG. As far as I am aware, there is no secret (or otherwise) setting to change the behavior. So, yes, this was a change in the midlife facelift. I hope that helps.
I don't think so. It uses the fuel gauge information to determine 10 L has been added then does the reset if it has. There is no switch on the fuel flap.
