Hey y'all, been dealing with a dying MFD in my 2ng gen Prius recently. I've tried searching for similar situations but nothing has been exact.

My screen will either display nothing, display random colors, or glitch back to being able to see briefly. Where I see other people also say the touch function stops, mine is still fully functioning (and a little bit of memorization helps me control my AC).
For about 10 months prior to everything going wonky, the Maps section had gone kaput first, and I guess the rest of it caught up.

Could this be a wiring issue or something fixable, or am I looking at a full replacement?

If you are familiar with electronics at the component level, you can fix it by buying a few parts.
If you are not familiar, then the best option would be to buy an OEM MFD or buy a 7-inch Android device that you will insert in place of the damaged display.

They're millions to get salvaged cars are 20 yrs plus now very lil salvage value today . They cannot give this stuff away . You see the $400 seven button MFDs on eBay? Betty might sell one every few years That's why they have to be $400 and he still isn't making anything on him selling them like that and they're all used He got them for near free exactly

I recently replaced mine because of communication error, seems very common issue with loose solder. It was ~$150 from ebay. So far the replacement unit is working fine. Local junkyard want $70 with no warranty at all. eBay vendor gives 14 days warranty. Mine had intermittent communication issue and the cold weather started it. May be the shrinking metal made the loose connection.

I also opened it and solder the loose pin on the connector. Not so difficult. Hard to see the broken solder even with magnifying glass. I guess a shop equipped with micro-soldering tools can fix it really good.
