    Hey guys,

Just wanted to say, "I finally did it." I got rid of my decrepit and literally falling apart
car and got a very decent 2016 Prius 3 w/ATP. I've always loved the prius, but
bills, a current car and a shaky credit always kept me from getting the car I really
    wanted. Till now.

On a lark between business trips I sent out a few requests to dealers asking about
a specific prius set. Nothing pinged until I got a very interesting email. Let me preface
this by saying that I learned my lesson from my last, now paid off car: Don't make
concessions on a very expensive purchase unless you're absolutely comfortable
with regret. So there was a few things I wouldn't budge on. Colors had to be anything
but red and it had to have the ATP package.

The email that was so interested came about because they offered a very very very low
monthly price point. To the point where I was sure it was a mistake. We're talking basic
corolla low. It was so low, I left the office early and went to the dealership immediately.
Test drove it, and immediately wanted to go through with it. Then the manager came out
and told me the price was an accounting error. At first I was dejected, then I realized I
had gold in my pocket. I had an emailed quote offering that price.

I made calls to other dealerships and some of them declined but two others said they'll meet or
beat. I made the call to leave and the dealer I was at, hurried to try and negotiate, but no
    dice.

Anyway, I got the Prius I wanted at a pricepoint I still haven't seen anyone beat.

I did it boys! Almost took me a decade but I did it!

The penalty for 7 years without a registered Prius is to obtain a one-time 1000-mile tank! :D

Fantastic! The fact I could make payments on a new Prius that were about the same as those on a Hyundai i20 (but for twice as long...!) definitely clinched the deal. I never really enjoyed the Hyundai; I LOVE my Prius!

I don't know what the i20 would go for here since it's not available in the states, but to contrast, before I got my car I got another quote from another dealer for $2000 USD Down, and payments @ $475 a month.

The deal/email that clinched it was $0 Down and $240 a month. I knew it was too good to be true and when the manager came out and said it was an error, I felt like I called it. But since I had an emailed quote, I knew it was gold. To be honest, after giving me the quote, the dealer technically can't renege on the quote (bait and switch) but I didn't want to argue and found it way easier to just call another dealership.

My monthly payments are over $500, and I put $2,000 down - looking to own the car outright in 5-6 years! I do around 16,000 miles a year.
