I have a 2013 PriusC and the electronic doors have been unreliable for years. Ive been using my mechanical key without issue until this past week when suddenly it has trouble turning. It still gets in the slot without issue, but suddenly I have to fiddler with it for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute before it will turn. How do I fix this? I can’t afford to get the automatic locks fixed and it definitely isn’t the individual key, as the spare is suddenly having the same issue. Also had the battery checked recently and it is doing great.

Get a can of spray silicone lube......NOT original WD40 and NOT penetrating oil and NOT PTFE.
Gently put the tip of the red tube into the key slot and give it a good spray; just a second or two.
Then exercise the key in there a little bit.

Thanks! I’ll give it a try and see how it goes.
