MDF "dead" until ignition reboot

My MDF was "dead" this am. The round circle on the power knob, but there was no light or backlight on the MDF. I pressed and held down the power button to initiate a reboot several times unsuccessfully.

It lit up when I turned off the car at a light and restarted the car.

This is a first for me. I do have issues with the Android Auto linking sometimes. I've found it doesn't like it when you start the car with the charger plugged in (just charger, not the USB port) and even with the USB port in the car connected to my phone.
