Most of the people I know wish he would just quietly fade away.

 

I don't know much about the priesthood, but he's been married, twice and has 2 children. Is that allowed? I know he's gay or bi-sexual, but what about the marriages and children? He obviously doesn't care about how his behavior is affecting his children.

I, too, wish he would quietly fade into the background, but it's New Jersey.

Most definitely not- there is absolutely no relationship between homosexuality and pedophilia. I recently heard a psychologist on the radio say that the majority of pedophiles are heterosexual, although I don't have a reference for that. Unfortunately, the scandal with the Catholic church has reinforced that stereotype in the minds of many people as the most publicized incidents involved altar boys (there have been cases of girls abused by priests as well).
Since the Catholic church does not permit priests to indulge in any kind of sexual activity, gay or straight, and they also have an intolerant view of homosexuality, whatever they do has to be illicit.

I just returned from a road trip to visit my parents who live in Georgia. Driving down I-95 through the South, there are billboards on one side of the highway that say "Topless 24 Hours", "Live Nude", etc. On the other side are the billboards that say "Jesus is Lord" and ads for the Bible Outlet Store. Agreed - I think the first problem is his deceptiveness. I saw his soon-to-be ex wife on Oprah, and she said even when he was found out he was trying to manipulate the media and everyone around him in an attempt to control the damage. I guess it never occured to him that people might be upset with him more for being a deceptive liar that cheated on his wife and was subjecting his kids to a terrible embarassment than that he was gay. A true politician.
