Maximum # of bikes on Prius rack?

    What is the maximum number of bikes folks have on a hitch-style bike rack that works stably without swaying, etc?

    I have a Thule 916 2 bike rack/2 inch to 1.25 adapter on a Curt hitch-works great....though a 4 bike adapter would be too much in my opinion. My mpg went from 52 to 43 on my last trip:eek:

    So why did you get the 2" Thule when your hitch is 1.25"? I know they make the Thule in 1.25".
