I am about to clean my Mass Air Flow sensor, so I bought a CRC MAF cleaner, but the directions say "DO NOT use on vehicles with a Karman -Vortex airflow sensor, e. g. on some 2006 and older Toyota, Lexus, and Mitsubishi's vehicles."

Does anyone know what type of sensor 2006 Priuses have and whether they are Karman-Vortex?

    Thank you

All the way back to Gen 1, Prii use Mass Air Flow sensors based on how much the flowing air cools a heated wire. You've got the right cleaner.

Back in the 80's, Toyotas had (Bosch) Vane AirFlow sensors- "flapper boxes", then circa 1990 some cars used MAP sensors. By late 90's Toyota had theme and variations of heated element MAF sensors on most everything?

My memory could be wrong on all that, but it's gotta be a a couple decades since I've seen a car with a Karman Vortex sensor. Maybe the fancier Mitsu's?
