    Excerpt from full article: The Toyota Prius Prime has made impressive waves in the PHEV segment in terms of overall U.S. EV sales. Still, numbers appear to be down in comparison to last year...Will the Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid continue to top the Toyota Prius Prime as the U.S. PHEV sales leader? (Not likely. While we don’t know for sure due to Toyota not providing Prius splits, its pretty safe to say that the automaker sold more Prius Prime’s in March than Honda sold Clarity PHEVs. Based on our estimates, this gives the Prime a healthy ~400-unit edge for the quarter as a whole.)

    Why is it embarassing? Because of the low sales numbers?

    yes. where would they be without the huge northeast discounts? everyone comes here to buy them.

    otoh, they might do better to inventory them in all 50 states.

    Green Car Reports has March 2019 Prius Prime sales numbers without the asterisk (InsideEvs Estimated). I could not find Prius Prime sales numbers in Toyota USA Pressroom site. I wonder where they got those numbers from?
    Plug-in electric car sales for March: Prius Prime romps, monthly data an endangered species? (update)

    From link above;
    “The most startling sales total for March among cars with plugs, however, was that for the Toyota Prius Prime, the 25-mile plug-in hybrid that essentially competes with the 53-mile Chevy Volt.

    Toyota managed to sell 2,922 Prius Primes last month, more than one-third of all Prius hybrids sold, and a new monthly record for the model.”

    That is significant difference (902) between the March 2019 Prime sales numbers in the two articles.
