Wow! I'm impressed. You joined in January of 2005 and have made only 9 posts and deliver mileage performance like this? You are a sleeping tiger not a singing one. I applaude you.
Hello all! New owner, we got our Prius on 3/25/06 and I filled up for the first time today even though it wasn't needed. Loved all the suggestions for increasing gas mileage but we are experiencing high MPG regardless of length of trip but it does seem to be dependent on outside temp. Here are our stats: Total mileage 325 Gallons 6.20 MPG 52.42 YEAH!! Morning temp 40-48 faren afternoon temp 55-76 faren Best trip so far 65.1 MPG with an outside temp of 76 and total mileage of 13 miles. I am loving this car. It no longer costs me $5.00 a day to drive to work, just $1.25 a day. Again, I'm loving this car.
I have had my new 2006 Black #8 for 15 days. I have almost 900 miles on it. I fill at about 200 miles. First fill averaged 43.14. 2nd fill averaged 47.02. Third fill averaged 47.9 . 4th fill averaged 49.92! Close to 50. About 75% is highway speeds between 55-65. Rest is stop and go typical intown traffic. I noticed that the wind on the highways makes a great deal of difference. Driving into a 30-40mph headwind at 60 reduced mileage to mid to upper 30's. It is very windy sometimes here in South Dakota. So far I love my new Prius! Cary in South Dakota
weather is starting to warm up and my Prius knows it. last tank was 53 computer /54 pump. this tank, half gone, is at 55.2 ya LOVE SPRING!! BUT summer means 60 MILES PER GALLON@@!

What the heck am I doing wrong? I've got 8500 miles on my 05 and my life average is 38.26 with my best tank 41.67. I ran 424 miles to out of gas, then filled up with 10.17 gallons. I'm doing my best to work the system as described here. I keep thinking that maybe the warmer weather will help but I see posts from cold climates too. Nobody need respond, I'm just skeptical that all these posts are accurate. Still, I wouldn't trade my Prius for anything else.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(figmentor @ Apr 4 2006, 02:48 PM) </div> for you, its most likely the weather. cold temps are a killer
no worries figmentor. I was once in your group (well, actually a bit higher up at mid 40s) but I patiently waited for summer and patiently learned. The result? my last summer mileage was up to 50mpg. Heck, I'm getting last year's summer mileage, now! In March/April! Now I'm ready to take on 4.3L/100km (55mpg).
