I recently bought a 2003 Prius from a friend & have received, via mail, two offers for manufacturers warranty replacement programs aka vehicle protection plan. Two postcards, two different offers. Is this something I should call about & pursue??

I wouldn't, but if I did, I would sure read the fine print about what was covered.

Ditto that. As with any extended warranty you would almost certainly get back much less than you pay for it.

What the others said. Be very wary. There are outright scams out there. See this for more. Although that discussion centers around phone solicitations, they come in the mail too.

I wouldn't consider anything third-party. Who knows if they'll be around when you'll actually need them. If the warranty is through Toyota, then it might be worth considering.
