Maintenance light stays on... but only for 10 seconds

    I've noticed in the last 5-6 days that when I start up the Prius, the "Maintenance Req'd" light blinks for about 10-11 seconds (just long enough to make me think it won't stop flashing). Has anyone else noticed this? Is it common or related to impending service needs? Should I get it checked out? :huh:
    The car is otherwise working well.

    Do you have 4500+ miles on the car? If so its time to change the oil.

    The light will come on in this fashion 4,500 miles after it was last reset. Once it has been 5,000 miles since the last reset, the light will stay on constantly until you turn it off (instructions in the owner's manual). If you get your oil changed at a Toyota dealer, they should turn off the light for you.
