The "maintenance required" light has just turned on and has got me confused.

On my Camry, this meant that the car is due for its oil change.

I was under the impression that my Prius v uses 0W20 synthetic oil that only need be changed every 10k miles. I'm now at 15k and apparently the car had its last service at 10k (prior to me purchasing it).

Can anyone shed some light on this?

The light will come on every 5k miles. You are correct on the oil change every 10k miles.

For each 5k mile interval, between the 10k intervals, the maintenance schedule calls for tire rotation, fluid inspections, etc. The 10k intervals add the oil and filter change.

Follow your Maintenance Schedule that should have come with your car. This will explain what needs to be done for each 5k mile interval.

FWIW, at 15K miles you should also be replacing the cabin air filter.
