Being new here , I am very interested in the maintenance part of the site cause I love to do it by myself. I have being using K&N air filters for more than 20 years and always love the fact that it is reusable, never bought it for performance. So watching posts , I saw that people here really dislike not to say hate those filters. I’m a first time Prius owner and I had no clue there could be a problem with these so I decided to check the MAF sensor this morning and to clean it to correct my mistake . Never had problems with the others Toyotas but I thought I could have done a big mistake on that one because it’s a hybrid , let’s see the results. Prius 2014 154269 km Average fuel consommation this winter: 5.2 L/100KM (47mpg) Always done oil change at dealership every 10000km Results surprised me ... The MAF sensor is so clean , looks brand new, so I didn’t even clean it. My goal today with this post is just to say that if you’re following carefully the instructions, you should never have problems with that type of filters but if you’re not , like everything else , problems are waiting for you ... maintenance with good products is the key for long term healthy car .
I have the same filter for both air intake and the cabin filter. No problems at all. https://plugoutpower.com/ Hybrid battery diagnostic and repair tool for Toyota and Lexus Home - Pulstar Spark Plugs
I finally changed our 2010’s OEM cabin and engine filters last fall, around 88k kms. Mostly out of boredom; they were still fine. The engine filter in particular looked almost new still.
