Just picked it up yesterday--- I already have 150 miles on it and my gas level has not changed? According to the bars on my digital readout? Is this possible? What a great car--everyone should have one. I can see already that these factory Goodyear tires make for a rather skittish ride sometimes--going to look into getting them replaced ASAP. I am enjoying reading everything on the forum-- what a wealth of information!
Your observation about the fuel gauge is correct, but the other "pips" don't last quite as long. The gauge isn't quite linear. Don't trust your remaining range when the lowest pip flashes. Fill up as soon as it begins flashing, or even earlier.
 The Prius is da shizzle fo sho! As for the gauge... I think this will clear it all up for you: http://priuschat.com/Gotta-love-the-Prius-...uge-t19360.html
Welcome to PriusChat, and congrats on your car! Sounds like they might have accidentally sold you one of the experimental, nuclear-powered models. Actually, there's a thread going right now about how long the guess (gas) gauge "sticks" on "Full" for 100 + miles. Pretty normal for a Prius---one of the obvious remaining flaws in the car, having a lot to do with the expandable/contractable bladder that serves as a gas tank (to control vapor escaping into the atmosphere).

Congratulations ! Welcome to the cult....er.....club! I asked the same fuel gage question when I got my new one last week. When you finally get to the last little box on the fuel gage indicator, it will start flashing when "empty". Fill up at that point to see what your reserve is. I did that couple of days ago for the first time and had 1.7 gallons left, roughly 80 miles. They may all be different so good to know.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(jclay1965 @ May 13 2006, 01:30 AM) </div> Yep - I did the same thing ... gas gauge hadn't changed, and the mileage was 145, and I though maybe the darn gauge was broken. So I posted here and was immediately reassured that all was normal, and sure enough, the next day I lost the first bar. Congrats on the Prius. You already love it, and believe it or not, it only gets better!
I'm on my second tank and just lost the first 'pip' around 100 miles. Congrats on your great new car!
The car is very bad for your "image". Your friends will start to think you have lost your mind, obssessing over a car like you WILL! Congrats, and like others have mentioned- it only gets better!
