in the right direction for my 2010 Prius? I lost one of my Smart Keys (well my drunken friend did) and I am looking at all my options. I "Searched" and info was scattered all over, and it is very specific to certain locations. I know the Dealerships cost and Arm & a Leg and I know I can buy a Key online I can possible have a Lock Smith Program it. Any Recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
(and yes friend is paying some $$$)

Getting your "friend" to pony up for the expense of a new key from the dealer that's properly programmed would be my first thought....
Pretty much any route you choose is going to cost at least $200 and up!

I would not waste my time researching this and just go to a reputable Toyota service dealer. Try AutoNation Toyota in Irvine.

Teach your alcoholic friend a lesson and just have the dealer replace the key. BTW, don't forget your registration paperwork.

Nice find! Like I said About $200 +. Pray the Dealer will do this for free.... usually they expect you to buy the key from them, and maybe a free activation. Just showing up, and asking, try it, Good Luck, but if you do let us know how it goes!
BTW, at least get your friend to pony up half.....or just break something of equal value of his....petty, but satisfying! :)

You can buy a key online for about $50-$80.oo (make sure that it is the right key) and then find a locksmith who will program it for about $100.00. My Toyota mechanic could not get the program to work and the locksmith that I called did not succeed at first either. It was not until they did something extra called resetting the mobilizer that they were able to get the key to work. I used a place called Gwinnett Lock and Key and they were fantastic.
