Yesterday was 27 degrees overnight (I hadn't driven it in 3 days either) and my car wouldn't start in the morning. AAA came out for me. But I lost the instrument panel readout for awhile. No speedometer, etc. It did come back after about 20 minutes of driving, which I was doing to charge the 12 volt. What happened????

probably just the low battery. if you are not going to charge the battery, you will need to drive it a lot!

I've been driving it, and had the 12v checked. It's good. I'm such a newbie, plus, well, I'm also 82. There is a learning curve, for sure.

The problem of switching off the instrument panel on Gen2 in cold weather is caused by the loss of quality of the electrical capacitors inside the panel. It is solved by replacing the capacitors. The search contains topics with photos and videos of the repair process.

It sounds like it could be the initial onset of a failing capacitor on the Combination Meter (speedo) circuit board.
There's a sticky thread about DIY repair at the top of this forum. Another option is to send your CM out for repair (or get an exchange unit) from TexasHybridBatteries.com.
