Lost all FOBs/how to pull out of garage for towing?

You have to remove the electronic parking pawl mechanism on the transaxle, that will allow you to roll the car.

welcome! iirc, you have no choice but to dolly up the four wheels and tow it onto a flat bed for delivery to toyota. hopefully, someone else has a better idea. all the best!

 

Or buy "go jacks", or just a jack with large wheels, you can Jack the drive wheels up and roll the car on its back wheels and the jack.

Call a tow truck and describe the situation. They'll come up with something, either dollies on the front wheels, or just drag it.

 

Yep, for a short distance, you could put some sand on the floor and have the tow truck grab it by the back wheels to drag it out.

There was a thread a few years back, someone parked at an airport, nose in, with columns (or vehicles?) on either side, and the 12 volt battery died. Think they just dragged.

 

If the tow truck can access the rear of the car, it will have no problem dragging the car out of the garage.

nope. it happens occasionally, but only to those who don't keep a spare fob.

Two things:

1. Get a spare.
2. Since you seem to be making a habit of this, maybe you should get non-SKS fobs. That way you can't drive off with your keys on your roof/windshield/wheel/etc.

 

What if you are several hours away from home, and lose your Fob?

I can't unlock the car, and can't start it. Then what?

 

Call the local Toyota dealer and prepare to pay a high three-digit or low four-digit amount to have a new fob mated to the car.

Of course don't forget it will be Sunday and you'll also need a hotel room expense.

So although chaos, memory loss and accidents happen, don't lose your fob!

PS Noting Ferrari...loss that FOB and pay thousands plus down time as Italy factory supplies security codes to mate the FOB.

Thanks guys. Hopefully, not likely I will lose it. For the times when I'm out in the wildness, I will use a snap strap key lanyard secured to my belt loop (with Fob in pocket.)
