my quotes, progressive $150 per month, state farm $95 per month. but my record is kinda messed up due to an identity theft problem. problem is with progressive, they quoted me $90 on the website, even though i added everything on my record, but when i called them they told me $150. state farm i went into the agents office.

    these quotes are for:
BODILY INJURY & PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY
BI $25,000 EACH PERSON - $50,000 EACH ACCIDENT
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY - $10,000 EACH ACCIDENT
    COMPREHENSIVE ACV LESS $2,000 DEDUCTIBLE
    COLLISION ACV LESS $2,000 DEDUCTIBLE
    UNINSURED MOTORIST
    $25,000 EACH PERSON - $50,000 EACH ACCIDENT

you'll probably want a better deductible, so remember to add on for that.

Please note that when comparing insurance there are two factors: How much the policy costs, and how hard they make it to collect if you have a claim. I have State Farm and they've always paid without any hassle. Some companies will do everything they can to avoid paying. -- With insurance, cheaper is not always the better deal!

That is grossly inadequate coverage if you have any assets to protect. They will go after your house, savings and investments (qualified pension plans excluded) should your policy limits be exceeded.

Medical expenditures for even non life threatening injuries can easily exceed $25,000 and what car can be replaced nowadays for $10,000 should you be unlucky enough to total someone else' vehicle in a traffic collision?

The traveler's hybrid insurance (with 10% discount) did indeed give at least a 10% savings over all the "big guys" that I got quotes from.

The quote that you posted suggested that you put in all of the lowest limits, highest deductibles, etc., to get the best rate. However I agree with the previous poster that your coverages may not be adequate. The $2,000 deductible suggests to me that you must have significant assets -- in which case your liability coverages are not nearly enough. Or otherwise, if you have limited assets, do you have $2,000 lying around if your car gets stolen or in an accident? Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Anyone in california should try "AIS." They usually provide quotes for Mercury Insurance among others. Just got a quote and they less expensive than GEICO, not by much but less.

I have tried quoting just about all of them out there...and if California there are a lot!

By far the least expensive was Ameriprise Insurance throught Costco. They offer a special program for Costco members...and it was around 30-40% less then most of the other ones I found. The only catches are that you have to be a Costco member, and you have to have a clean record for them to even take a look at you.

As an added bonus, if you are an executive member, you get Roadside Assistance for free! Great considering that AAA charges a bundle and Toyota discontinued it for 2006 models.

We got screwed over by State Farm and after we cancelled our policy it took forever(!) to get our money back. They had been overcharging us by a lot!!

We're now with Progressive and are very happy with them. I filed a claim on Saturday. My agent was assigned & contacted me same day. We took my Prius to Toyota yesterday, the agent showed up to go over costs with the body shop. He cut the check and my car is being worked on as I type. So far so good.

Always go with the lowest possible deductible! We're paying $230/month for two 2005 vehicles.
I don't have a very long driving record, so the notes should go down in a year or so.

I'm currently so frustrated with the bill I just got. I have no tickets or accidents since I was in high school...and I've graduated college and been on my own for over two years. When I bought the Prius they quoted me one price and then I got a second bill...which they told me was correct...so I paid it ($50 over quote). It was a trusted agent my parents have been using since before I was born, so I didn't question. Now I received a bill that is another $50 higher....

So tomorrow I call the agent and rip his head off to see if he can fix my rate...and Tuesday while waiting for my oil change, I call around for quotes. I have heard love/hate stories on all the companies...so my new philosophy is stick with a name I know. I have heard Traveler's and GEICO are one and the same...anyone know how the service/cost difference is between them?
