About a year ago I had my windshield replaced. The auto dimming rear view mirror that came with my 2011 Prius worked for a little while after the replacement, but now it's stopped auto dimming (I don't have a garage/but assume the door opener also doesn't work).

I'm looking to replace that mirror with something similar that auto dims. No need for the garage door opening function.

Anyone have advice? It seems like a simple fix, I just want to get a solid replacement.

I think the mirror gets its power from a lead in front of it on the ceiling -- that's how it was in my wife's Sienna, and knowing Toyota, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't the exact same mirror in the Prius.

In any event. The plug had to be disconnected in order to change the windshield... maybe it wasn't fully seated and has come undone. Or maybe the wire was pinched on the install, and ultimately failed.

Let us know what you find.
