Looking at traveling over 3300 miles with the Prius on a 8 day trip from Seattle to Tucson and back. A couple of days, I plan to drive over 12 hours. Will the Prius stand up to this amount of driving? What are the longest distance has people driven in one day with their Prius?

I drove from Los Angeles to Capitola and back in one day last year, twice. It was a round-trip of about 700 miles. The Prius performed perfectly on both trips.

Of course, it'll do quite well.

After a 750 mile Los Angeles to Phoenix round trip, I KNEW I needed to install a cruise control on my 2001 Prius. There were no vehicle performance issues.

Almost certainly there have been longer one day drives.

Great point. Cruise control is great. I used it almost the entire trip from LA to Capitola and back. I was certainly much less tired when the trip was over because of it.

You weren't going to Trader Joe's in Capitola, were you? ;) That'd make for a serious grocery store run...

No, we actually went to Capitola to pick up our cats from Siamese Rescue. We have adopted three in the last two years. One in San Diego and two in Capitola. They certainly did add some miles to my car.

We have a Trader Joe's a five minute walk from our house. I hate to drive there. It really messes up my gas mileage. I walk when I don't need to get much or try and stop there on the way home from work.

I drove my 2005 Prius for 18 hours, just stopped for food and gas, very little gas. The Prius ran perfectly. No problems at all. Just enjoy the ride.

I love telling of my drive from CT to TN this past June making only 2 stops for gas (the second was just to top off the tank for our 4 days of car camping). (of course more stops were required to empty the humans)

The prius has to be the best car camping vehichle ever made, no more worries about having to start the car every so often to keep from killing the battery, as the prius does that for me, just plug in the cooler and radio and leave the car on. Still had a full tank when we left.

We were on the road for 3 weeks - with a little time off here and there to visit friends - and put 4572 miles on ours. We drove from SF Bay Area to various places in CO and then made our way home through Prescott AZ and back up through Nevada to Death Valley and Yosemit. We were in the mountains just about every day and had temps up to 118 in Nevada. Obviously, we were running the AC just about the whole time. Never had a problem. I did chicken out on driving up Pike's Peak alone. What can I say?

I'd take the Prius on a long road trip again anytime!

Three weeks ago I drove from Daytona Beach to Santa Fe. My leg from Houston to Santa Fe was 14 hours. I stopped for gas a few times; total mileage was about 890 miles. The car was great; no problems whatsoever. I also like how my back didn't even get sore! There are cars that give me back pain after just 2 hours. The 12 hour days you have planned will be no problem for the car.
    Have a fun trip,

I drove my little baby from houston to abilene (452 miles) filled up there and added 2 large adults to the veh and off we were to dallas for some cheep shopping on the long road of wholesale stores TREADWAY
finished there and returned back to drop off my sister and her hubby (they got around 200lbs of items in dallas) topped off and returned to houston. total miles were 1375 miles and all in a day. the car works well and i trust it more than my last car (chrysler) on long trips. OBTW i have filled it up while on long trips without shutting it off. i figure as long as the ice doesn't start then its the same as its off. i always have good full battery when i do this and i pay at the pump so i'm in-and-out of the station in like 3 mins. good luck on your trip and drive safe

Took mine to California and back last summer - round trip of ~2,600 km. No problems at all, but driving for 12hrs/day with minimal breaks is pretty tiring...

Myride: 1375 miles to go shopping!?!?!? Sheesh! New meaning to shop-a-holic. I rarely go 1375 miles in TWO MONTHS. Happy Horizons.

We drove from Vancouver to Ottawa and back, a distance of about 10,000 km. The longest one day drive was Calgary to Vancouver, about 1000 km. The only thing lacking was a turbo for the mountains. Those pesky Mustang V8s got by me every time. The car performed beautifully, despite the load of camping gear. It was more comfortable and faster than I had expected, and the mileage was amazing. The handling could use some tweaking, though, as blustery side winds were a problem. To be fair, even the hawks were having trouble some days. All in all, a wonderful car and a great trip.

We drove the car from Houston, where we bought it, to LA, where we live. The longest day was from Ft. Stockton, TX to El Centro, CA. It was about a 14 hour day and we went 850 miles with two stops! We would have made it quicker but we got caught in a big rain storm, plus we were breaking in the car for part of the way so no over 55 driving... But man, we saw the most beautiful sunset ever while driving. It looked like the sky and the wet road were all on fire.

2850+ Miles in 3 days. From San Jose, CA to Fairfax, VA.

First day of the trip racked up 1100 miles. Second day racked up 1000 miles.

Drove at speed limit 75 mph on I80. And about 70 the rest of the way.

Dude - that's some crazy driving! After our one day of 850 (spilt between me and my wife) I wanted to sleep for a week much less wake-up and drive another 850! I actually had a friend in college who drove straight from San Antonio to LA with one stop. 23 hours straight. I guess when you're young, you can do anything...
