I have a 2005 model black Prius. I do not remember specifically which package letter but it has SS/SE, JBL Premium speakers and the 6 cd changer. No Nav, No Bluetooth, no HID lights. I noticed this problem just tonight in fact, and I was wondering if anybody had any knowledge of this. The lock notification beeps that you hear whenever you lock or unlock your prius seemed like it got a lot softer. I can barely hear the two beeps over the actual sound of the physical locking/unlocking noise of the doors. This happened all of a sudden. I recently have installed an EV button by following the guide in the forum. The button works fine, the car was fine until now. Could it have affected something? (I didn't ground the button to pin1 but instead the metal bolt right behind the pasenger vent since I heard that it was okay to do that) Right now, I can barely tell that my car unlocked with the smart entry(although the tail and signal lights flash still), and sometimes it gives me the false impression that the car was already unlocked. How can I make the beeps more louder or make it back to the volume it was originally? Thanks.
That's really odd. Many people - myself included - have installed the EV and there have been no reports of anything of this sort. Could something be draining the battery causing the beep thingy to be weak and thus soft? The lights don't take much to make them blink so perhaps you can see them but barely hear the beep.
thats possible. Does anybody know where the beeping noise is made/coming from? Like what part of the car specifically. I don't think the EV installation caused it. OH yeah, the correct term in the manual was "exterior warning buzzer"
