The breakdown was $1100 for the struts and the remainder for the calipers. Mechanic said he would use OEM struts. Said the back break calipers are "frozen" and that is why my car is dragging. This was identified during a break pad replacement.

I have been spoken to by mechanics several times about the struts, so it's likely correct that they need to be replaced.

However, these prices are too high, correct?

I googled but IDK the effect inflation would have on the job since many of the quoted prices are older posts.

Boston area. 2011 Prius III with 175K in mileage.

Mechanic also said the rack and pinion are going on the car although it's "in the very early stages" and doesn't require replacement at this time.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.
