I recently had to have my roof replaced due to damage from tree limbs. When I got my car back the lift gate seems to go too high. Anyone else out there with a 2012 Prius plugin have to stand on tip toes to close theirs. I'm about 5'4" to 5'5". I can't imagine what they did wrong but it just doesn't seem right.. It took them 3 weeks to make the repair. Maybe I have a faulty memory. What do you think?

On ours it measures about 74" from ground (concrete) to underside of plastic hatch panel, at centre.

Thank you Mendel. That was a huge help. Ours measures 80.5" from the ground. Now to figure out how they screwed it up!

Most likely, they used the wrong lift struts during reassembly.

They replaced those today with the same effect. Could they have ordered the wrong lift struts twice? I guess anything is possible.

you need a part number or measure one at the dealer. some people put in shorter ones because the standard height is too high to reach.

Possibly the attachment points need adjusting.

As a point of reference, my car measures 74" to the bottom of the latch "hoop". 77" to the bottom edge of the hatch panel at the center. The lift struts are 20" center-to-center when fully open.

That's a good, unambiguous point of measurement. I get the same (20") measure for that.

Well it's fixed.. I went to toyota today and looked at another Prius lift gate and how everything was attached. Turns out when they reinstalled the brackets that hold the lift struts they installed them upside down. Went to the repair shop, had them turn the around and all is good. Thanks for the suggestions and help everyon.
