We have a Prius Five with leather interior. A friend, who also owns a Toyota, says that the leather interior isn't real leather but rather a "leather like" interior. The car was sold to me with a leather interior, so if it isn't then Toyota is practicing fraudulent sales practices I would think. It looks like leather to me, am I wrong?
It's called "Softex"; not real leather, which Toyota should have listed. Maybe the salesman gave you the wrong info?
The 2012 has SofTex. The 2010/11 Four and Five have real leather interior. However, the real leather is found only on the primary seating surface. The undersides, back of seats and headrests are vinyl while the doors and center console use synthetic leather. All manufacturers do this, including Lexus. You can feel the difference between real leather on the seating surface and vinyl on the back of seats/headrests. Try it for yourself.
Ok, that's all I could hope for, I know they only do the actual seat insert, not the entire seat. That's about the industry standard. Now all I have to do is get the stuff to protect it. I think Toyota sells it.
