A good friend of mine is in the market for a used Prius, $10k or under, Gen I or II. He lives near Lancaster, PA so I'd like to pass on to him recommendations for a good Prius mechanic and/or a Prius owner who'd be willing to walk with him through the process. He says he has to purchase it in the next few days, but from I see on the weather, it's pretty damn cold back there right now! Of course, that might make it a great time for a good discount. Recommend: 2009 - last of model year would have factory installed fixes. 2008 - 2004 excellent 1.5L, solid car 2010 - first model year has 1.8L and more space BUT also risks first-year weaknesses fixed in field. 2001 - 2003 - sedan style, read the sticky. As a project car, OK but a lot of weaknesses corrected in 2004-2009 model. Bob Wilson

This one fits all the criteria and by bob's write up is the best year for an older used prius. Says one owner, fully loaded package 6!, and only 100k miles, and under budget by 1.5k. I've personally bought 3 cars at Del Toyota (a few mins from Lancaster co. Line) and cannot say enough good things about the place. Seriously. There are a bunch of toyota dealerships closer to me but I still make the hike up there to get treated right. thanks for all the help. they bought a 2008 from Good 2 U dealer. No word in 10 days so that's a good sign their enjoying their new Prius!
