Key for Prius v

    The mechanical key that comes on the fob, does anyone know if this key can be copied; it is chipped? Thanks. Prius Key.jpg

    It is attached to the ring at the end of the fob. You push the slot on the side of the fob to release it.

    It is in the fob, just looks totally different. I always like to keep a key handy.

    Your dealer should be able to make one. You might need the little metal tag that came with the car, which has the key code on it.

    It's $25-50 plus. Specialty equipment is required to cut the key slot.

    My local dealer wanted $115 to order one for me. I ordered one off eBay for $20 instead.

    Yes blank one can be had for under $10.00 but the dealer with the laser cut key machine will be hard to find!
    Also no set price for the laser cutting.

    Actually, the eBay guy cut the key for me. Just had to provide him with the key code.

    There is no "key" on a v Five. There are no key holes.

    Go to the beach - remove the mechanical key - hide the key fob in the car - lock the car - go for a swim - return and unlock the car.

    I buy produce for my store from several suppliers, so in summer I leave the AC on and lock the door with the key.
