Is there a way to keep the "ignition mode" on without the car automatically turning it off after few minutes............I don't want the car to be on "ready mode".
It doesnt hurt the car to be parked, and in READY mode. For hours. That's correct, right guys? With several days of 100 degrees coming, guess where I will be most of the day? (I don't have AC at home.)
And I will even be cool while driving to the gas station. 25 bucks for 5 or 6 weeks worth of gas is a lot cheaper than a $400 monthly electric bill at home. During these hot summers I am very thankful I have a Prius.
My summer (Colorado) all-home A/C bill averages about $150 for electricity and gas. My slack-season (spring and fall) is about $110 so I figure I'm spending around $40 a month on average for whole-house A/C during the summer months. $120 a year is close to nothing. My house is a little over 2,300 square feet plus an approximately 1,000 square foot finished basement. Standard double-pane windows, not low-E, standard 2x4 construction. I keep the thermostat between 73 and 77 depending on time of day.
i'll have to look at my bills, but i know without looking that sleeping in the prius would be cheaper.
Your account says you have a 2016 Prius, do you have a Prime? If not, you'll be burning gas and that causes carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide? You mean like inside the cabin? Well, then I will have a nice, peaceful, COOL death. Or do you mean just regular pollution from my gas-guzzling 2016 un-primed Prius? It uses very little fuel when parked, and in the READY mode. The engine only comes on for a couple minutes, once or twice an hour or so. Priuschat members camp all night in their old Prius, with the AC or heater running. Nobody that I know of has bought the farm yet! (And I bet my pizza breath puts out more carbon monoxide than my Prius!! )
