Just purchased a 2010 Prius IV

    So I was very excited to get my used Prius with only 109k miles but on the hour drive home I realized the AC was not getting cold. I can hear the electric compressor running/buzzing but no cold air.

    When I got home I ran the AC for 30 minutes and it was still 95° inside the car despite the setting being on 65°.

    Any thought?

    congrats and welcome!

    hopefully just needs a charge. prius a/c is high voltage electric, so take it to a dealer, or other expert.

    I'm assuming you bought this from a private party or just some used car lot. Good news is GEN IIIs are not known for having A/C problems. Bad news is that you have to go to a Dealership or Prius Expert as Bisco said to get this checked out...and it likely won't be cheap to fix. Don't trust the local A/C guys. In you owners handbook it will show the location of your 10 amp fuse. You might get lucky, but get your hopes up.

    First step to any problem with A/C, vents and heater is replace the cabin air filter. It only takes a minute and increased air flow does wonders to fix most problems.

    If that doesn't solve it take it to a mechanic who specializes in A/C and is busier than the size of their shop can handle so you know they aren't sitting around trying to figure out how to get more money out of not enough customers. Request basic system maintenance. Hopefully they don't find anything other than maintenance issues.
