Hello all! I just recently purchased a used 2006 prius with 130k miles clean title and clean carfax for a great deal. I purchased this after my gf just bought a 2008 prius touring. And we both love our cars! Before this I was driving a 2006 nissan 350z. I've been lurking a bit here for the past couple days trying to find out as much as I can about the Gen 2s just to be safe. Could anyone recommend what I should MIGHT have to replace soon? And how to check it myself to see if it will be needing replacing? Thanks guy! Glad to be apart of this community!
congrats and welcome! besides the maintenance manual recommendations, it might be worth changing the tranny fluid. all the best!
Welcome! They complement each other nicely. Why does the touring have non-touring wheels on it? You might keep an eye on the engine coolant pump for leaks. It's the large, black pulley toward the bottom of the passenger side of the engine. Look for pink, crusty buildup inside the pulley. That's the only trouble-spot I've had with the '07.
Hey another Fresnan with a Prius! I would do maintenance on it right away: - Trans fluid - Oil and oil filter - Air and cabin filter - 12v battery if its still the original, which wouldn't be surprising - Spark plugs - PCV - Check tire pressure. People around here recommend 42-40 for front, 40-38 rear. This is so you get better fuel economy and better wear on the tires. - Check radiator and inverter coolant. Both use the same Toyota Red, but different tanks. Welcome to the club!
No, those are non-touring wheels on both of them (with the plastic trim rings removed). It's not a big deal. I prefer the non-touring wheels and tires. They're usually more fuel efficient, and the tires are a less-expensive size. Touring wheels are 16", 7-spoke.
