Hello all, my wife and I just bought our first Prius this past Saturday on 9/11. My wife has had the same Toyota Celica GT for 12 years and just won't give it up! So, we traded in the Kia Spectra I was driving on an 07 Prius.

I am completely blown away and amazed by this car. We qualified for the 2.9% rate through Toyota. The Prius had 38K on it and was $16,000. We got the 100,000 mile/7 year warranty. I couldn't be happier. I was laughing because we did quite a bit of commuting after buying it this weekend and the gas gauge only went down one box or pip? I don't know what you call them. We went 100 + miles before the first one went away.

I am excited to find out how many miles per tank we will get. I drive it during the week. I drive all city surface streets 20 miles to work one way. So I do 40 miles a day at an average speed of 45 mph in the morning and 40 mph in the eve.

Very excited new Prius Owner here! :)

    Congrats.

I don't know. If I had a well loved Celica GT, or a Kia Spectra....despite the age difference...I think I'd keep the Celica as well.

Spectra for Prius...is IMO clearly trading up.

38,000 miles on a 3 model year old vehicle sounds like a good deal. You are still getting a relatively new vehicle, with some warranty coverage..and for $16,000? If you were buying new what would you be looking at? Pretty spartan choices.

Good deal. Hope your amazement evolves into simply a good ownership experience.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, it is Toyota certified and as we looked around at the other 2010 Prius models, we noticed the base models were $22,000 and the fully loaded ones were as much as $34,000!

As far as trading in the spectra on a Prius, it was absolutely trading up! ;) We couldn't afford a payment on a $34,000 vehicle at this point but, having a 3 year old Prius with under 40K miles for $16,000 at 2.9% was like a dream. We are very happy with it thus far. We have found ourselves looking for reasons to drive to the store since Saturday just to drive it. :p

I too just got a prius... I'm a long time fan of Toyota... but just traded my 03 4runner for a 2010 prius (with the 2.9% ) LOL...
I bought it on the 9/18 and the odo read 3 (three) .. by 9/19 I put 125 miles on it! It's amazing I love it... and get excited every time I step on the break and push the start button. I commute 76miles a day to and from work. And to be honest... I cant wait for the first time I have to fill the tank up! Yes- that's right... I've been spending about $65 to fill up my gas guzzling 4 runner every 4/5 days... now that i got my prius... I'm guestimating its gonna cost about $32 to fill it up So far the trip meter to remaining gas ratio is telling me i got about 172 miles to go...
DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW HOW MUCH THAT IS GOING TO SAVE ME IN A YEAR????!!!!!!! seriously - LMAOTTB (laughing my nice person off to the bank)

One issue i do have is that i can't keep my eyes off the computer screen that shows you the 5min consumtion... or the graphic that indicates where the power is generating from... I've noticed with these different info displays it's keeping me more aware of my driving style. Instead of flooring the gas to move through traffic, I've been challenging myself to coast, press lightly, and ride the contours of the highway... OH and i break a heck of a lot earlier now knowing that with my breaking, the battery is charging...

    I'm smitten, can u tell???
