Just Curious: Why Capitalize "Fob"?

    I've been wondering why nearly everyone capitalizes the word "fob" as if it were an acronym. It isn't, at least not when you're talking about the key fob that comes with a Prius.

    Capitalize away, but don't blame me when your lifetime allocation of capital letters runs out! (-:
