I had a 2000 Jeep Wrangler that averaged 14-16 MPG. I got tired of refueling at 180 miles (on a 15 gallon tank). I saw a 2002 Prius come in at a local Toyota dealer. They wanted $2,600 PLUS my Jeep. After about 1 hour of negotiations, I got the Prius for $250 plus my Jeep. I filled it up that evening. I just drove my first 50 miles ON ONE GALLON OF GAS!! The Jeep would have already downed at least 3 gallons. Needless to say, my wife is happy that I am now saving about $5 a day in gas. Haven't got the whole power-and-glide thing down, but am trying to use cruise control whenever possible and around 40 MPH / 60 MPH on the freeway. Lovin it!
Great deal! Don't forget to service the tranny ASAP....most dealers don't do it properly (i.e. drop the pan and clean everything) so best to do it yourself. Do tranny service every 30k miles to keep the car happy.
Thanks for the tip! Is there a link you can direct me to for a walkthrough of dropping and cleaning the pan, etc?
