I might as well start July's MPH reports. I just went through my first tank of gas of a brand new 2005 Silver here in Pacific NW. Predictable but delightful results. Over 55MPG driving alone flat interstate. 49 MPH on flat city short hops. and 45 MPG with 3 men on I-84 going through Cascade Mountains pass and the windy buffeting of the Columbia River Gorge. That stability control smoothed out and maintained good contact with the road when being broadsided by wind gusts. We will have to decide how much winter driving the vehicle can safely stand of slush, ice and wind, not too much snow accumulation usually, before we have to switch to the 4x4 P/U. Anyone driven I-84 in winter?

First 250 miles driven on our new 2005: 53.1 mpg! (MFD....haven't properly done the fill-up, so I'll have to start that for the next time.)

Great Smika, cut my fill ups in 1/2 and use about 1/3 less gas..so we're all saving. I am still working on best mileage, got al lot of just short trip, and can't really get longer runs to get better mileage. This is job dependent, someday I may live further away that is when I'll really reap savings. For now the best so far is 43 mpg. Lot of folks in my straights around where I live. But patience and determination will help. Congrats on your good performance and mileage.

    56.6 mpg on computer
    54.6 calculated
    561 miles on tank.

Lots of AC usage. Driving about
    1/3 under 50 mph, 1/3 at 55, and 1/3 at 65-70 mph.

70 mph got me just about 48-50 mpg.
55 mph was generally over 60 mpg.

Drove 250 miles or so to Western MA on part of this tank, and got into bigger hills. Mileage held up pretty steady, but got my very first 10 green battery bars, and did lots of coasting.

Here are my two tanks so far in July:
Tank 1: To Denver, CO from Lubbock, TX
    Tank Miles: 530.9
    Total Gallons: 11.648
    Gas Price: $2.179
    Calculated Mpg: 45.58
    Screen Mpg: 50.1
Almost all interstate and highway speeds (65-75) with slowing down when going through a few towns. Avg Temp probably in the 85-90 range with A/C on.

    Tank 2: Way back home
    Tank Miles: 505.4
    Total Gallons 9.391
    Gas Price: $2.239
    Calculated Mpg: 53.82
    Screen Mpg: 50.XX
All interstate and highway, 65-77 (except for the occasional town), except for about 30-40 miles in Denver. Avg Temp probably in the 85-95 range with A/C on.

    Total Miles: 14108
Lifetime MPG Calc: 47.01 It is slowly going up and over 47!!

Current tank at 57.9 at around 315 miles, 1/3 highway, 2/3 city.

Just in case you are curious, no problems in the mountain passes. Despite battery being to pink bars before reaching the top, no problem maintiaing speed or passing.

In my situation, I have a lot of short trips, with many lights and stop signs, not much highway or long runs w/o stops. Hot & humid Texas climate. I am seing increased mileage by using engine and coming up to speed quick, initially and easing up and coasting or re-charge for most of the rest of the roadway to the next stop or light. Started out in 39-40 mpg range, now starting to get 43-44, by having rapid up to speed progression, and coasting and re-charging or running electrically as much as possible, also being very anticipating on all stops and red lights, easing off and allowing slow down and re-charging way before the actual stop, also this can avoid stopping all together. I always re-accelerate quickly getting out of the ENGINE and BATT acceleration mode.

I am getting used to it, at first it is WORK to get good mileage. PS when the wife is in the car, I pay less attention + always put the AC on and the mileage shows it ! Went to church the mileage now is only 43.7 MPG??!! Now at night or in the AM will run w/o AC and concentrate to get that 44 MPG Back...Dang!!@@##$#@!@

    Silver 05, packge B1
1255 miles, 3rd tank 130 miles used and still FULL!!, 44.01 MPG on the MFD screen.

    GOOD JOB MICHAEL !!!!
    GOOD JOB TOMDEIMOS !!!

June 30 to July 13 driving.

    Tank Miles: 411.0
    Total Miles: 9176
    Tank MPG: 46.4
    Lifetime MPG: 45.9
    Avg Temp: 80s
    Price of Tank: $21.00
    Price per Gal: $2.36

So I'm back to average with the air conditioner on. This makes up for the way above average calculation we got on the previous tank (61 mpg).

Overall, I'm getting to believe the displayed tank mpg and will probably stop posting after a year of ownership. Still hoping to see an increase about now.

Well I'm pretty happy so far. I've had my car one month to the day and I did My fourth fill this morning.

    Total Miles.........1713
    Total Gallons.....29.703
    Lifetime Ave......57.67

Although it's been in the high eighties for the last month, half of my driving (commute to work) has been between 6 and 7 AM so I'm not using the A/C then. I sure hope it's true that the milage improves after 5K miles.

I've had my Prius since 7/2, my last tank was the best so far:

    508.4 miles/Tank
    52.3 MPG (per the computer)
2 bars left on the Fuel Gauge.
    Put in 9.45 gals.
    1434 total miles.

I commute about 85 miles a day for work, a mix of highway and local roads, no real "city" driving, but often stop and go on the turnpike home due to traffic.

Looks good Sid, same color as mine in TX., not so lucky with mileage, but I have a lot of shorter trips the mileage jumps up when I get highway miles in combo with in town miles.
