Japanese name comes first followed by US/Canada colour name (if applicable) and colour code.

**This is for Japan only. US colour options will vary**

It's a strong, eye-catching color which can be seen at a glance that it is the new Prius PHV.

The Steel Blonde Metallic looks cool. Probably Japanese only.

It's also available on the regular Gen 4 liftback. I haven't seen it in real life, just photos, but it looks close to a similar light, satin champagne/beige colour that BMW offers.

At least the attitude black will hide that weird black panel above the rear glass, and deemphasizes the side scoops on either side of the grille. I'm also liking the magnetic grey.

Looking back at Danny's photos, I think he mentioned that the other light colour present is that Steel Blonde metallic. He said it was called Desert Blond or something like that. It's not obvious (and I thought it was Blizzard Pearl). If you take a look at the photos, especially when the Classic Silver one is behind, you can see the difference in colour.

I agree. To me, this blue magnetism metallic doesn't look as appealing as the blue crush metallic that is available on the lift back. Maybe the color will look better in person (it looks interesting in the image shown in this post) but seems rather blah in most of the other pictures. Hypersonic red is beautiful, but I think it will be a popular choice and therefore quite common. Otherwise you have just the usual suspects. I may just go with black.

It's actually a pastel blue in real life. It's not that metallic. It's the same colour shown at the NYIAS reveal.

I'm not a fan of the blues for this generation either (Blue Crush Metallic or Blue Magnetism Metallic)

So the choices are... an ugly green, a weird blue, a really nice red, or one of the usual 50 shades of the white to black spectrum (white, off-white, silver, gray, black). The best 2 Prime colors IMO are red or black. My last 2 trucks were red, black. The wife's car is red. My car is black. I wanted something besides red or black for a change. I do not like white, silver or off-white, especially on hte Prime with the floating roof and the front scoops.

With a new model, I was hoping for more choice than Toyota's same old boring colors. Look at Ram trucks, you get your choice of 30 real colors.

A good thing about getting the car in black is that you can get the moonstone interior and that would be very sharp looking.

Pretty much. The Desert Blond looks nice as a colour and matches well. Of course there's the stigma of "well it's a beige, isn't it?"

    This looks like Desert Blond:

The black is a metallic black, not a flat black. So if you had solid blacks before, this one is different. It can look dark green/teal/blue under different lighting. The Prime would look good in black.

A solid medium blue metallic would match the Prime well, I think.

    Something like Azure Blue.

That blue was more like what i was looking for... I had a beige 2004 sorry driftwood... But the desert blonde just looks like an ivory or off-white to me. Could be different IRL I guess.

    Ditto.

Driftwood wasn't bad. It was a strong champagne colour. I preferred that over the other beiges that were offered at that time (like Frosted Mink Pearl which was lighter in hue).

This one looks similar to "Aruba Metallic" that's offered on the Range Rover. I've seen this colour in real life and it matches the car well if you were looking for a light colour that isn't white or silver.

I can see how these colors are consistent with those I have seen both in person and in other photographs, with the exception of the "blue magnetism metallic." Why are there several images from Toyota, this one included, that show the color with an emerald greenish cast and yet all of the cars at their events are blue?

As colours become more complex, it's a bit more difficult to properly represent them on paper. e.g. Tideland Pearl was represent as light green even though it was dark greyish green in real life.

I would say out of all the published images (that aren't photographs), the one at the top is probably closer than the green ones that TMS has published, would you agree?

You've seen the colour under the sun in real life. I only saw it indoors. I saw it as a pastel blue colour but your description in the other thread suggests that there may be more depth to the colour.

This picture from the Japanese journalist's photo dump you posted is close to what we saw. The color is principally a lightish blue without a lot of complexity. It's not a bad color, just sort of ordinary. The color in the original post is not the way it really looks.

That's the blue and the beige.
