    I don't want to "shock" @hill or @bisco but I've gone electric!!!(y)

We shall see which is the greener mower, my old 2006 $370 LawnBoy or my new 2022 EGO electric, with LED HeadLights! I got the simple $400 EGO Model 2101, cheapest they had, no power drive.

Stay tuned for the comparisons. But the 5ah lithium battery if I am lucky I will get 3 years and replacement cost is $250. So I believe eMower cost is going to be much higher in the long term. P1110927 (2).JPG

Come to think of it, my 2006 LawnBoy outlived my 2006 Prius, but not by much.

According to cpicalc, the 2006 Lawn Boy was $540 in June 2022 dollars. :) (Or, equivalently, the $400 Ego was $274 in June 2006 dollars.)

You may be pleasantly surprised at the EGO durability and battery life. We have a 5 year old Kobalt 80v mower that shows no sign of wear and its little 2.5 ah batteries still fine after 5 years of weekly grass cutting from April till October of every year.

Don't forget you will never buy gas, oil, air filter or spark plug again - so you will have these savings. After the initial purchase price of an electric mower that is pretty much all you will ever spend on it.

I bought a replacement blade for mine, after an unplanned mowing of my sidewalk.

Do you have a cord? Those are nice but not sure about pulling the cord around, I tried my neighbors a few weeks ago.

"unplanned mowing of my sidewalk" :D

The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. Poor choice of hammer in this case though.

Batteries are convenient, but cords cost less without the issues that come with batteries.

Same here, except the 'forever' part. I started in 1990.

Not a very good planer either.

That's for when the electric leaf blower comes in handy, as the tons of leaves begin falling. The leaf blower works great as a snowblower too!
Congratulations on the new mower. Man they sure are getting expensive. We bought the last floor model for $411 last year. But this year - after trillions of paper dollars are added to the supply, that same electric mower is $650. Ouch!

I replaced all of my gas yard tools this summer. The mower is a champ even when I let my grass go for a month+. 20220603_180835.jpg

I was intrigued by some Ego zero turns I saw on display at the hardware store mainly for the swappable batteries you can use in other tools. After some research I settled on the riding mower from Greenworks and their 60v tools from tractor supply. I was most impressed with the pole saw when it was doing better cutting up a fallen tree than my echo 14" gas saw. I picked up greenwork's 16" 60v chainsaw a week after.

I ended up donating all my old gas tools to the age old tradition of piling them up at the end of the driveway with a 'free' sign. Even included my can of oil mixed gas. It was picked up within an hour.
